Sunday!

After being able to sleep in a bit, we met up with Ian, Tee and Richie at Ginny’s Cafe at 11am to head out for a day we had eagerly planned for earlier in the week. Tee had arranged for an air con mini van to pick us up and take us out to their land in Mae Rim so we could see the progress they are making with their building. Ian’s man cave is built, there is a bathroom and kitchen and Tee’s woman cave is in progress. The restaurant is next, then the house and pool will be started by October (they hope). After that, they are going to build 5 or 6 more bungalows to rent out….

Big project! It was exciting to see their dream taking shape!

Then after that, we walked down to the village where Tee grew up. Her mother and other family members were at home cooking in preparation for a big Buddhist holiday coming on Monday and Tuesday. They prepare food and then go to their temples early on Monday morning and give the food to the monks. Monday and Tuesday are major holidays in Thailand, all government agencies and schools will be closed and it is illegal to sell alcohol, so no bars will be open and many restaurants and shops will close also.

We loaded back into the van and started the drive to a mountain top viewpoint that Ian found a while back on his motor bike. Suffice it to say, places you can go on motorbike take a lot longer in a commuter van….but it was worth the drive! It was up in the mountains at a hill tribe village where the Hmong live. We had lunch in a sala up on the top with a view to die for. The pictures can’t possibl do it justice, but i’ll try…

Such a big day we planned! As after the mountain trek, the kids (Tee and Ian’s son, Audi and his friends) were promised a trip to the local lake. So we went to Huay Tung Tao. Enjoyed more refreshments and food under another sala with a gorgeous view of the lake as the sun set.

We were home by 8pm, Just in time for me to hit the Sunday market. I was a lone soldier this time. Couldn’t convince anyone to come with me….that’s ok i am much more efficient solo anyway : )))
Managed to get all the way done with no rain, the skies just opening up as I bought my last item….so perfect timing to pack it up anyway.

But this does leave me in a spot where I will have to go to Wararot market tomorrow to buy another bag! ; )
